The Power of Narrative in the Liberation of Palestine: Film Screening & Panel
Thursday, October 15 · 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM · Washington Square Park
Join us for a fundraiser film screening of "Frontiers of Dreams and Fears" & panel discussion with the director of the Palestine Institute for Public Diplomacy (PIPD) exploring how Palestinian storytelling and reclaiming narrative agency can shift public policy.
The film is a documentary by Mai Masri about two Palestinian girls growing up in refugee camps in Lebanon and Palestine. Despite the barriers that separate them, the girls form a bond and eventually meet at the border. Shot during the liberation of southern Lebanon and the Palestinian Intifada, the film articulates the feelings, hopes, and growing activism of a generation of young Palestinians living in exile at the time.
Panel Speakers: Inès Abdel Razek, co-director of the Palestine Institute for Public Diplomacy (PIPD) and Nour Chamoun, artist & curator
This event will be held at the Hagop Kevorkian Center for Near Eastern Studies at NYU. All proceeds will go to the Palestine Institute for Public Diplomacy - PIPD.
The Palestine Institute for Public Diplomacy (PIPD) is an independent non-governmental organization headquartered in Palestine, advocating for the liberation of Palestine from all forms of settler colonialism through advancing Palestinian alternative diplomacy and movement-building in the Global Majority and in Europe. https://www.thepipd.com/
