Enemy Alien

A Japanese American filmmaker draws a line between his family's World War II internment and the post-9/11 detention of Muslim immigrants, centering the story of Farouk Abdel-Muhti, a Palestinian activist fighting for freedom from inside a detention center. This is a documentary about resistance, solidarity across communities, and what happens when the state tries to silence organizing.

Farouk organizes his fellow detainees, refusing to be broken by abusive retaliation from his captors. Meanwhile, Homeland Security investigates the filmmakers themselves—and arrests Farouk's son. The film doesn't look away from the cost of resistance, or the connections between different forms of state violence.

This screening is part of the P.I.T.'s Radical Solidarity Cinema series, a program committed to films that center liberation and collective struggle. Expect a room full of people who showed up for the same reason you did.
