Poetry & Song: Naomi Shihab Nye & Haleh Liza Gafori

A rare pairing of two celebrated poets and performers — Naomi Shihab Nye and Haleh Liza Gafori — for an evening that weaves poetry, music, and translation into something intimate and alive.

Naomi Shihab Nye, the Palestinian-American poet, will read from her new book *Sidekick* alongside classical pianist Daniel Anastasio, blending her words with musical selections. Haleh Liza Gafori, known as "our Rumi," brings translations of the 13th-century Persian mystic — performed in both the original Persian and English — alongside Marc Ribot and Shahzad Ismaili, two of the most accomplished musicians in New York. The result is a conversation between languages, centuries, and forms.

The Sheen Center is a thoughtful, intimate venue in Greenwich Village. Two hours, in person. Refunds available up to 7 days before the event.
