Book Launch | The Neck and the Sword & Palestinian Resistance Literature
Friday, October 30 · 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM · Hell's Kitchen
A book launch and panel discussion on Palestinian resistance literature and contemporary politics, featuring three major voices in Middle Eastern studies and political thought.
Rashid Khalidi, Edward Said Professor Emeritus of Modern Arab Studies at Columbia University, will discuss his work alongside Tariq Ali, the prolific historian and writer whose books span world politics and postcolonial critique. They'll be joined by Helga Tawil-Souri, an NYU associate professor whose research centers on technology, infrastructure, and politics in the Middle East. Together they're examining Ghassan Kanfani's *Palestinian Resistance Literature Under Occupation, 1948-1968* (co-published by the Institute for Palestine Studies) and Khalidi's *The Neck and the Sword*.
Expect a substantive conversation — this is the kind of event where the room fills with people who've read the books. Doors open at 6:30 PM; the discussion runs two hours. No price listed on the page, so check with the organizer or venue for ticket details.
