Palestine Will Be Free: The Story of Hanzala ft Musab Abu Toha & The BK Nomads

PROMOCODE: MENNA (20% OFF)

The Brooklyn Nomads present a concert built around 100 animated drawings by Palestinian cartoonist Naji al-Ali, paired with a nine-piece ensemble performing twelve songs spanning 1948 to now. Al-Ali created Hanzala in 1969—a barefoot ten-year-old boy who, he said, would not grow up until Palestine was free. Al-Ali was assassinated in 1987; Hanzala remains ten.

The ensemble weaves archival footage of liberation struggle figures throughout the performance, with poetry from guest artist Mosab Abou Toha, a Palestinian writer and poet. The songs trace themes of childhood, freedom, and return across generations.

Doors open at 6 PM. Tickets range from $35 (students, limited to 50) to $175 (patron tier, which includes a $75 donation). A portion of proceeds supports Anera, Gaza Soup Kitchen, and The People's Forum. By the end of the night, everyone will be singing.
