Revolutionary Print-Making w/ Daniel Drennan ElAwar
Friday, October 2 – Friday, November 6 · 5:30 PM – 8:30 PM · Hell's Kitchen
A six-week printmaking workshop grounded in the political poster tradition — the kind of class where you'll carve linoleum blocks and walk out with a small run of a one-color broadside that actually says something. The broadside and poster have always been the printed record of resistance, a way to archive culture and push back against dominant norms.
Daniel Drennan ElAwar is an illustrator, printmaker, and fiber artist whose work centers displacement, dispossession, and decolonization. He founded Jamaa Al-Yad, a Beirut-based artists' collective, and his practice is rooted in documentary work and resistance aesthetics. In this class, you'll conduct photo and lettering research, design your own blocks, and print them — learning the craft while thinking about what you're actually making and why.
Expect a small, focused studio setting at The People's Forum, a space built for political education and cultural work. Fridays from October 2 through November 6, 5:30 to 8:30 PM. $250 for the full six-week session.
