Dr. Muhsin al-Musawi, professor of classical and modern Arabic literature at Columbia University, discusses his new book 'Poetic Desire and Literary Thievery: Economies of Intertextuality in Arabic Literature.' The book examines debates surrounding literary authenticity across Arabic and Islamic culture over seven centuries, exploring how intertextual borrowing was driven by personal desire and competitive economies.
