A rich documentary by Maiken Baird about the life and mind of Edward Said (1935–2003), the brilliant Palestinian-American professor, author, and world-renowned advocate for the Palestinian cause. Born in Jerusalem and displaced in 1948, Said became a Professor of Literature at Columbia University and a crucial voice for Palestinian rights and Arab representation in Western culture. Made entirely of archival footage, the film follows Said from childhood through his influential works including Orientalism.
