Colloquy 23: Translating Palestine Now
Wednesday, November 4 · 7:00 PM · Hell's Kitchen
An evening of readings and discussion centered on Palestinian literature in translation — the kind of event where language itself becomes an act of solidarity.
Three translators take the stage: Sinan Antoon, Omar Berrada, and Huda J. Fakhreddine. They'll present their translations of Palestinian and Arab authors including Ibtisam Azem, Haidar Al-Ghazali, and Ibrahim Nasrallah, among others. Each brings a distinct sensibility to the work of rendering Arabic prose and poetry into English — a conversation as much about the choices translators make as about the voices they're amplifying.
World Poetry Books is hosting this at a small venue in Midtown. Expect a full room of readers and writers; bring a notebook if you want to jot down titles. No specific pricing or door policy is listed on the event page, so check ahead before you go.
