The Oasis Presents: WAHA Cinema

An evening dedicated to Muslim cinema — five short films from filmmakers exploring identity, tradition, faith, and lived experience across genres. The screening is followed by a filmmaker talkback and reception.

The lineup includes PIGSKIN, directed by Tishna Lodi, about an all-star high school quarterback named Ahmed and his new coach Omar navigating Ramadan in a small all-white town; Harami Salami, directed by Negine Jasmine, following three generations of Afghan women; The Weathermen, directed by Sundus Mustapha, a sci-fi story centered on Ziya; A Different Girl, directed by Morgan Mathews, featuring Jasmine Guy; and The Missing Link, directed by Anwar Karim, about a young man seeking spiritual sanctuary in Atlanta.

Stay after the screening to hear directly from the filmmakers about their creative processes and the stories behind each film. A brief reception follows, giving you space to connect with the artists and other guests. Three hours total, in person.
