Nur ala Nur at Road to Dance Beyond

Excited to debut our newest musical project Nur ala Nur (Light upon Light) at @ecstaticdancenyc on May 13th in Greenpoint Brooklyn. Nur Ala Nur is a collaboration between Omar Aena عمر عينة and Abu Zeyn أبو زين — an Iraqi and an Egyptian, inheritors of two of the oldest civilizations on earth, converging in sound. Together they weave electronic music and live instrumentation inspired by the Sufi path to create a devotional experience that moves the body and awakens the spirit. Omar Aena, with roots from Iraq, bridges worlds through electronic production, spoken word and live oud — drawing from years of exploring sacred music across Morocco, Turkey, Cuba, Egypt and beyond. Abu Zeyn أبو زين, a child of the Nile and the Arabian Desert, layers live bass, guitar, flute, and vocals into soulful improvisations shaped by jazz and the Sufi spiritual tradition.
