ONE DAY INTENSIVE INTRODUCTION TO 16MM FILMMAKING ON THE BOLEX CAMERA TAUGHT IN ARABIC

OUTLINE AND COURSE DESCRIPTION In this workshop participants will be introduced to the format of 16mm film. We will discuss different types of film available and contemporary work flows for traditional film making then demonstrate how to use the Bolex motion picture camera, Equipment will include; the Bolex Rex4 camera, Kern Switar Prime lenses, Sekonic Light meter, We will go over key chemical reactions with B/W reversal chemistry. All material, safety equipment, chemicals and cameras will be provided. Films will be developed on site during the lesson. We’ll collaborate on a short work together and learn all the skills that will allow you to film your own roll with confidence in the future. Finished projects will also be presented after the conclusion of the course at our screening premiere at MoMA.

MATERIALS TriX 16mm film stock, D-19 Developer, R9 Bleach, Fixer, white leader, reels & splicing tape.

SERVICES 4K transfer and online hosting provided by MONO NO AWARE

ACCESSIBLE EQUIPMENT Bolex Rex 5 Camera, LOMO developing tank (50’X2), Glass beaker, thermometer, drying rack, gallon jugs, CIRO Guillotine splicer and EIKI projector.
