Bardi

A visually rapturous documentary about the rugged world of horse-riders in central Morocco, following a group of men as they participate in Tbourida — an equestrian military ritual dating to the 16th century. Filmmaker and photographer Tala Hadid spent time immersed in this fraternal community, capturing their geographically expansive yet emotionally enclosed universe with thrilling camerawork that merges portraiture and fabulation.

Tala Hadid is a Moroccan-American filmmaker and photographer whose previous work includes the short *Your Dark Hair Ihsan* (shown at NYFF43) and the feature *House in the Fields*, also about Morocco's Amazigh people. She's fascinated by how communities encounter tradition, myth, and the self — and *Bardi* is a majestic work of earthy imagination that transcends time and landscape. The film is in Arabic and Greek with English subtitles.

The screening is followed by a Q&A with Hadid. BAM Rose Cinemas is at the Peter Jay Sharp Building in Fort Greene; general admission is $22 ($17 for members), plus a $2 handling fee per ticket.
