Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk
Tuesday, December 8 · 6:30 PM · Greenwich Village
The 6th edition of the Voices of Francophone Cinema Festival centers on "Our ties — ce qui nous lie," exploring connections across the Francophone world through six films that push boundaries beyond language and culture. This screening features "Put Your Soul On Your Hand and Walk," a haunting documentary by filmmaker Sepideh Farsi that captures the resilience of daily life under siege in Gaza through video calls with Palestinian photojournalist Fatma Hassona.
Director Sepideh Farsi's film acts as a powerful digital lifeline to the realities of war, resistance, and survival, centering the voice and vision of a Palestinian journalist documenting her own reality. The festival itself is led by a student jury and represents a collective effort across La Maison Française, the NYU Department of French Literature, Thought and Culture, the Villa Albertine, and UniFrance, with programming by Sandrine Neveux and Anne Takahashi.
This is a free screening at La Maison Française in Greenwich Village. The festival aims to bring these films and the conversations they spark to audiences here and to build on them together.
