Mohamed Araki: Sounds from Sudan
Saturday, November 21 · 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm · Hell's Kitchen
Grammy-nominated Sudanese musician Mohamed Araki brings a live project that blends traditional Sudanese songs, oud, and deep grooves into a modern sound rooted in memory, rhythm, and community. This is music that carries home into the room.
Araki leads a tight ensemble: Mohamed Tahir on vocal and oud (the heart of Sudanese music), Dillon Zahner on guitar and percussion, Marwan Allam on bass, Bez on drums, and Gideon Forbes on sax. Each player brings their own lineage to the sound—a band built to honor where these songs come from while pushing them forward.
The People's Forum is a community space in Hell's Kitchen, intimate and welcoming. The event is free. Doors open at 7pm; the music runs until 9pm. Come ready to listen and move.
