My Life Is Wind (A Letter) / La noire de… (Black Girl)

Double feature screening: "My Life Is Wind (A Letter)" (2024), written and directed by Iranian-American filmmaker Anahita Ghazvinizadeh, explores the alienation of a Middle Eastern refugee in the US Midwest through a letter to her grandmother. Paired with Ousmane Sembène's "La noire de… (Black Girl)" (1963), a politically charged postcolonial masterpiece about a young Senegalese woman trapped in servitude in France.
