A Night of Umm Kulthum Tarab

Tunisian-Canadian singer Najla Al-Arabi and Sami Abu Shumays present renditions of Umm Kulthum's long songs with The Umm Kulthum Workshop. This concert series is dedicated to performing Umm Kulthum's songs in their entirety, reviving the performance practice of repeating sections, improvising, and extending them to create heightened states of tarab.
