A powerful love story set in present-day Tehran, CAST ASIDE THE CLOUDS follows Layla, a young Baháʼí woman navigating faith, identity, and systemic persecution. When she meets a secular neurologist shaped by the state’s dominant narratives, their connection challenges everything he thought he knew. Inspired by real experiences, the film offers a rare, intimate portrayal of everyday life in Iran, moving beyond headlines to explore love, resilience, and the courage to think independently. The film has screened at over 19 international festivals and received multiple awards, including Best Director and Best International Feature. This evening includes a special Q&A with Director Mary Darling and Co-Directors Bre Vader and Felicia Sobhani. Parmiss Sehat (Layla) will also make a special appearance, among others.
