Good Time Charlie
Thursday, September 24 – Sunday, October 25 · 7:00 PM (with matinees at 1:00 PM on select dates) · Lower East Side
Ryan J. Haddad's world premiere play traces three decades in the lives of gay men—Charlie, who traded his Broadway dreams for dentistry, and his nephew Ryan, who carries forward that theatrical passion. It's a multigenerational love letter to the arts, to chosen family, and to the people who teach us how to dream, directed by Danny Sharron with a cast including Jonathan Raviv as Charlie, Beth Malone, Michael Cristofer, and Artemis Pebdani.
Haddad is an actor-playwright whose autobiographical work has earned an Obie Award and multiple nominations; Sharron is a Brooklyn-based director known for developing new plays with focus on LGBTQ+ and Middle Eastern stories, and has worked on Broadway productions including Dear Evan Hansen and Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club. The ensemble includes Tony-nominated Beth Malone (Fun Home, Angels in America) and Emmy winner Jonathan Raviv (The Band's Visit).
The production runs 2 hours 15 minutes with intermission and includes haze and flashing lights. Multiple accessibility offerings are available: audio description, American Sign Language interpretation, open captions, and sensory-adapted performances. Tickets start at $79 for supporters and partners; general admission is $99 (service fees waived at the box office). Free and low-priced tickets are available through Joseph Papp Free Previews and student programs.
