Molly Crabapple: Solidarity Across Time

Artist and writer Molly Crabapple is coming to Harlem to discuss her acclaimed book *Here Where We Live is Our Country*, a history of the Jewish Labor Bund—the radical movement that organized against antisemitism and repression across the Russian Empire and Eastern Europe. The Bund was anti-Zionist, secular, and socialist, fighting for worker's rights and Jewish cultural life while insisting people could build just, culturally rich lives right where they are, without assimilation or emigration.

Crabapple, a New York Times bestselling author and award-winning artist, was an active member of Occupy Wall Street and pioneered illustrated journalism. She'll explore what the Bund's ultimately defeated movement still teaches us about solidarity, organizing across difference, and visions of belonging without ethnonationalist statehood—lessons for anyone thinking about liberation today.

Doors open at 6:30 PM; the book will be available for purchase. Bring your own for the afterparty. Suggested donation is $15.
